It’s like breathing

There is a saying in the Catholic Bible that stuck with me from when I was very young.

Moses asks the Lord " When your people ask what is your name? what shall I tell them?" o.k. so that is not an exact quote.

And the Lord said to Moses. " Tell them I am that I am ".

Several times in my life I have been asked who I was and I would reply, sarcastically " I am ". The reason for me answering that way is not entirely sarcastic in nature. I also believe strongly in the belief that WE are made in the image of the " Lord " or whatever it is you want to call Him-Here-It.

You know that presence or power that is all around us? Well that is God!

I read a post by The Angry African that has made me decide to expand my somewhat sarcastic answer of I am to I am. Because you are.

You know your a Canadian!!!

Lately I have been Stumbling alot and been stumbling onto sites/blogs that have these lists that explain how to know if your a Canadian or how to know if you are in Canada. I have absolutely no problem with these lists and in fact find them sort of funny.

They remind me of my Canadianisms. yeah I am Canadian just in case some of you did not know. Born and raised in Montreal Canada.

There is always one item on these lists that state: You know what a toque is.

Well I am here to tell you all that if you know what a toque is then you are more Canadian then I. The word is spelled TUQUE, it is a French word meaning hat ( one of them winter hats with the fuzzy ball at the top ) that your grand-mother knitted for you.

I believe the spelling or rather mis-spelling of the word comes from the mis-pronunciation from english speaking Canadians.

I speak four languages, English,French,Italian and Spanish. Most of my family, actualy my entire family speaks 3 languages ( all except Spanish ) I learned spanish when I first moved to the U.S.A because I went to work in restaurants. Lots of hispanic people work in the food industry for some reason. So I figured if I want to learn how to do the work I better learn how to speak with my teachers, who just happened to be spanish speaking.

B.T.W if you are from the Philladelphia area you probably have heard the expression " Beaucoup bucks" which means " Crap load of money" well that is also a French word ( beaucoup ). Litteraly translated beaucoup means nice hit but somehow in time it came to mean alot or many.

If any of you can think of other Frenchisms that are used please leave a comment. I would like to see how many Frenchisms or as the French Canadians would say Franglais words we can come up with.

P.S. Franglais is the same thing as Spanglish.
